What Is Double Penetration?
Double penetration is the act of being penetrated and/or self penetrating either with two objects in one orifice, like a finger and a dildo in the mouth, anus, or vagina, or with two different objects in two different orifices simultaneously – ie. a penis in the anus and a dildo in the mouth. This could be penetration from two partners, a partner and a toy/finger, or two different toys/fingers.
Why Double Penetration?
Why engage in double penetration sex you may ask? There are many reasons why someone may want to engage in double penetration whether as the receiver, or the giver, both in terms of psychological enjoyment and physical enjoyment.
One reason someone with a vulva may enjoy being doubly penetrated is that the dual stimulation of pleasure spots can feel incredible. The gushy wall about two inches up inside some vaginas on the stomach side, the location we call the G-Spot, can feel amazing to rub and touch. If someone with a vulva explores DP anal penetration, they can enjoy stimulation not only of the anus and the anal opening, but they will also be able to feel more in their vagina as the two penetrating objects press together and pass one another, stimulating the vagina through the anal wall. For people with prostates the anus can be where the P-Spot is located, which is an area that can feel amazing to touch and which can even produce its own kind of orgasms.
Double penetration can be especially visually stimulating, and for some people DP has a dominant/submissive connotation that is appealing.
What does Double Penetration Feel Like?
First time Double Penetration
Prepare for DP by first asking yourself about your fears, worries, excitements, questions and concerns. Make sure that you speak with your partner(s), if you have them, about what you’re thinking and feeling, and create room for them to do the same. Be as detailed as possible about positions, and STI testing during this thinking and communicating process.
If you’re contemplating tools and toys, start to look into and purchase them early so you can get to play around with them before diving in (and please don’t forget the lube – especially if you are engaging in anal play, as the anus does not create it’s own lubrication).
When it’s time to play with DP, go one insertable at a time. For The Receiver
DP can be associated with terms like “stretched”, “filled” or “stuffed up”, which can give you an idea of what you’re getting into for your first time. Generally, first time double penetration can feel like a lot of pressure on your external bits, and a bit of pulling on the skin of the vaginal or anal openings. Oral DP can feel like your lips are stretched, jaw reaching to hold both phalluses, and your gag reflex can potentially feel overwhelmed. Either way, you may need to take it in turns, or have one or both penetrative partners or items ease their way in.
For The Giver
For people with penises who are penetrating the same hole alongside something or someone else, DP can feel extra warm and having another person thrust against you can create additional pleasurable sensations. Additionally, whichever orifice you may be penetrating with another penis or dildo will feel far fuller than if it was just you in there by yourself. For all parties involved, lubrication is the key to easing any double penetration pain.

Double Penetration Positions
Before beginning, it is crucial that you and your partner/s have clear verbal and non-verbal signals that can slow or stop play. As the receiver may have a mouth full, or may be harder to read with the added elements, it is crucial that everyone understands how to pause or stop play to keep things safe, consensual and feeling good.
DP Positions with two or more partners
For threesome double penetration, allow one penetrating partner to stand crouched above the other while the receiver is in doggy, the person above entering the anus and the person below entering the vagina, or both entering the same hole from above and below one another for double vaginal penetration or double anal penetration.
Or… Doggy position while someone is penetrating the receiver orally – this can allow the receiver the ability to control how much they are taking in, and control the pace and speed.
Or… Have the receiver lie on top of one giver fully, chest to chest, while the other giver penetrates from behind
Or… Have the receiver lie fully on one giver, this time back to chest. That giver can penetrate anally while the other giver penetrates from on top, either vaginally, orally, or also entering the anus.
DP Positions with one partner
Almost any position you’d do with a single partner can involve DP as well. Because of angles, missionary can pose surprising challenges. The biggest challenge may occur for a person with a vulva who is partnered with a penis-owner or someone wearing a strap on. It may be difficult for the penetrating partner to stimulate the anus while they are above, or fit anything else in the vagina due to the angle of their body while penetrating the vagina. They can, though, enter their partner anally in missionary while using toys/fingers in the vagina, or enter either orifice and add their toy/finger in the same place. A similar challenge can sometimes be had with the cowperson position, and reverse cowperson, although with these it can be easier for the person riding to incorporate using a toy in a different orifice.
In most single-partnered sex positions, it is relatively easy to incorporate oral penetration whilst also playing with anal and or vaginal penetration. The person being penetrated can either suck on their own fingers, their partners fingers (which adds another layer of sensation into the mix for both parties) or a toy. Additionally, if the receiver is giving oral sex, the double-penetrator could reach down to stimulate the vagina or anus with their fingers or a toy. It is important to note that anything that has been in the anus should not then be transferred to a vagina or mouth without first being cleaned to avoid UTIs and bacterial infections.
Any position you try is all about work arounds with DP. Perhaps you’ll have to be the one penetrating one of your own orifices with your toy/finger, perhaps you’ll need to grab some pillows to make the angles work.
Double Penetration with Toys
Double penetration with toys can be easier to accomplish than penetration with just fingers. Grab a penetrating toy in each hand and get to experimenting with what feels good! You can try both in the vagina for double vaginal penetration, or both in the anus.
Likewise, you could explore by taking two toys into your mouth whilst stimulating other areas of your body with a different kind of touch. And of course, you can always experiment with penetrating yourself both anally and vaginally and/or orally, perhaps using a toy for one kind of penetration and your fingers for another. Just make sure that any toy you play with anally has a flared base or bigger handle, so as not to lose it inside the body.
The biggest thing you need to know is that a toy should not be used anally and then vaginally or orally right away, since the bacteria from the anus can result in infections like BV, UTIs, and gastroenteritis.
